The Ruling Families-Bush/Clinton

Has anyone ever noticed that we have had the same two families in office for the last 3 elections and possibly the next one? First we had George H.W. Bush from 1989-1993, then second William "Bill" J. Clinton from 1993-2001, and currently George W. Bush from 2001 to present. People then want to elect Hillary Clinton for the next election? I'm sorry... why would you want to do that???? Why has no one noticed this little trend before? My 3 year old can recognize a pattern, why can't we? For those of you who are clueless as to the pattern, follow along... Bush, Clinton, Bush, _______ <-- what goes in this space? A Clinton! Yeah! You get a gold star! Kudos to you! Go buy yourself a latte. Let's do some basic math and yes it's a freaking word problem, get over it- at present together they have been in office for the last (almost) 18 years and at minimum an additional 4 years with Hillary (if she wins that is) making it 22 and at most 26 years being "ruled" by the same two families. When is enough, enough? Do we really want this? In my opinion Hillary already had her time in office. I know... I know... as a woman I should be begging for a woman president, but I am not, at least not this election because I prefer not to have another Clinton in office, one was enough for me. It looks almost like a warring monarchy instead of a presidency. I feel Bush was reelected for a second term and maybe his first, I don't really know, because of his "family values" styled campaign. After Clinton and his affair with Monica (Really? Why?) the American people wanted a break, someone clean who had values and morals. I know he isn't the most popular President because of the war in Iraq, but let us take a walk back through Presidential history. The problems with this region started when President Jimmy Carter (D) supported the Shah's admittance into the United States after which Khomeini denounced the American government as the "Great Satan" and "Enemy of Islam." It has been downhill from there, one incident after another in Iraq or Iran. Don't get me wrong, Carter did some good too but he will always be remembered for the hostage situation in Iran. We elected Ronald Reagan who was considered by the media to be "just a dumb actor." How much would the American people give to have that dumb actor back in office right now? He started "Star Wars" (not the movie for those of you not old enough to know better); Reagan negotiated with the Soviet Premier, Mikhail Gorbachev, to reduce both countries' nuclear arsenals and help bring a peaceful end to the Cold War. Yes, in Reagan's time there was the Iran Contra scandal, lest we forget... our problems with Iran started with Carter. I have nothing against Carter; I was too busy playing with Legos, melting crayons on the radiator, listening to the Pink Lady's sing UFO or watching Candy Candy on TV and baking in my Easy Bake Oven (we lived overseas). I didn't know who Carter was back then and I did not really care... politics? What is "Politics?". The Reagan era was when I started paying more attention to politics; he did do a lot of good for this country and many European countries; if it wasn't for some negotiation and a well articulated speech the Berlin Wall might still be separating the German people and who knows we could have had WW III by now.
So now begins the dueling monarchy... Bush Sr. his claim to fame? The Gulf War. Bill Clinton was next... he had several legislative failures, such as health care reform. Clinton also had a war, the Kosovo War. He was also impeached during his second term in office (by the U.S. House) for perjury, obstruction of justice, and abuse of power for the hearing regarding his affair with Monica Lewinsky; however he was acquitted by the United States Senate and remained in office to complete his term (Fools!!). Bush Jr. his claim to fame other than being accused of being illiterate... the Iraq War (if I have to link this for you then you have been under a rock or you are an idiot). Not the most popular of wars but some good has come out of it... the end of Saddam Hussein's reign. So now onto the 2008 elections... as I said previously do we really want another Clinton? And if you are asking would I vote for another Bush if the girls went into politics... or Jeb Bush ran for office... the the answer is "probably not."
I'm independent I vote for the candidate I feel is appropriate, not for a particular party. The media has changed the parties from truly Democratic and Republican to Liberal and Conservative and according to my father Kennedy was the last "true Democrat" and Ronald Regan was last "true Republican," I agree. I have really been researching the candidates that have thrown their hats in the ring for the primary elections and have quite a few I am considering. We'll see when the time comes. You can find the candidates here. Happy voting!
